Comic page test study: Spectra
Been on a comic high lately so I decided to do a small test page myself. This is from the same little world as everything else I'm doing.

Paintover , Wizard guy.
UNFINISHED WIP - MORE TO COME, UPDATING EVERY NOW AND THEN
AFTER CRUCIAL FEEDBACK / PAINTOVER HELP FROM MENTOR
- Sort out contrast/values. (Intentionally "flat")
- Magic effect overhaul + Hand
- Work on lighting on character/cloth
- Work on elements and light from lightsources.
- Sort out the dragons legs as it's in major WIP.
- Try to get some last minute detailwork in.
- I'm tempted to do a color version and use some photosourced textures in an extra version later. One 100% handpainted, One mixed.

Random studies and work amidst the baby chaos.
Wanted to get so much done but waking up multiple times at 4 in the morning isn't great for productivity.
I'm tackling alot of hard things now so nothing is visually "great". I'm doing a push on testing and learning about composition aswell as doing real life studies (which are my bane).
Enough excuses! :)
I also got a bit into this wip dude I'm doing. It's hard but kinda fun. Done on ipad.

COMPOSITION TESTS
Trying to learn more about cameras, angles, story telling with simple means. Often the same scene with different camera work. I'm more of an environment guy so involving other elements is interesting. I'm doing this to help push my 2D skills aswell.
If I can't do interesting composition in 3D how can I do it in 2D? I think this is a skill alot of concept artists really have mastered.
Real life doodles
I got nothing to say, Stuff is hard.

Successful but failed experiment.
Wanted to do a quick base from scratch in Maya that I then wanted to paintover. That worked but I rushed the composition/camera part and I ended up not liking and getting the results I wanted so I axed it.
I'll try it from a different perspective next with better camerawork...
The technique itself is solid though. I'll be doing that more in the future!

Style/Art study: Henrik Sahlström
I took a brief pause from paintovers to do a little study of a friends art style ( Henrik Sahlström ).
It's been a crazy hard and very difficult task requiring a crazy good understanding of light and form, a real brain screwer. Tons of respect and admiration to him.
Got quite a lot of help and pointers on it as well so it's not all me. Fire turned out eh but it was kind of expected. 😉

Spectra paintover #2 - Faster! Harder!
Decided to challenge myself so went with a pretty bad first shot to work over. I also worked pretty fast on it which shows.
I'll be getting some feedback on this and see how I can fix it better or just take my learnings and go make the next one better.
